AK Whatley is often described as an Imagineer by his friends, driven by an insatiable curiosity for innovation and improvement. He firmly believes that there is always a solution to every challenge, a principle instilled in him by his grandfather, whose wisdom and determination left a lasting mark on AK’s approach to life.

Raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and later in Alvin, Texas, AK’s upbringing was characterized by creativity and resourcefulness. He learned the value of ingenuity early on, finding ways to overcome obstacles and turn dreams into reality. His competitive spirit flourished through team sports, a mindset he carried into his military career, where he learned the importance of teamwork and resilience.

AK’s passion for vehicles and adventure ignited during his childhood, spending countless hours in his grandfather’s garage tinkering with machines. This passion only intensified during his time in the military, where he honed his mechanical skills and pushed the boundaries of vehicle performance.

After transitioning from the military, AK found success as a business consultant, but his true calling remained in motorsports. Together with his wife Maria, they turned their shared love for racing into a thriving business, Chaos Fab Shop. Commitment to excellence and innovation quickly earned the shop a reputation as the premiere auto shop on the East Coast. AK’s prowess in motorsports was further highlighted when he won Truck Night In America TV Show on the History Channel. His dedication to philanthropy also led him to participate in Rennervations, a Disney Channel show, where he built amazing projects for a non-profit children’s organization.

Striving for more than building vehicles, AK sought to educate and inspire others through Chaos Fab Shop, offering a range of educational classes and community events. His dedication to promoting safe and responsible off-roading led the Whatley’s to establish Chaos Off Road Park in West Virginia, providing enthusiasts with legal off-road spaces and fostering a culture of camaraderie and stewardship.

In 2023, AK and Maria relaunched their motorsports program with a renewed focus on media engagement, culminating in high-ranking finishes at King Of The Hammers in 2024, a race renowned as the world’s most difficult one-day off-road race. AK’s prowess behind the wheel of “Kamehameha,” a formidable 4400 Unlimited Class vehicle, solidified his reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the world of motorsports.

Today, AK continues to push the boundaries of innovation and excellence, driven by his unwavering passion for motorsports and a commitment to pushing the limits of what’s possible. While there is much more to his story, the legacy of AK Whatley and Chaos Motorsports is sure to endure for years to come.
